Diablo Review

diabloDiablo has always been one of my favorite games and no sequel or competitor has ever reached the same level of atmosphere it emits. You can almost touch the lonely darkness in this game. The heroes feel strong and mighty but still always on the merge of crushing under the pure evil waiting underground. All the items and spells made the game really interesting without taking away from the excellently written narrative. The thing that threw me off for the longest time was the Blizzard Entertainment logo on the box but Blizzard really didn’t have anything to do with this game and the writing proves it. The game has way too much style and atmosphere to be a Blizzard game and it is a shame we never really saw another game like Diablo. For its time it was a masterpiece. Today, it could maybe use some more variety, but still holds up on its own.
