F.E.A.R. 3 Review

fear 3Remember me saying that I was afraid I might not like F.E.A.R. 2 due to them changing it too much? Well, welcome to F.E.A.R. 3. It looks like this time Monolith Productions didn’t have anything to do with the game and it is a shame. The graphics haven’t been updated too much but that’s not even the worst thing about the game. It is simply boring and feels like a chore. The shooting isn’t fun anymore. It seems like Day 1 Studios thinks that challenge in games comes from dropping the same enemy meshes in front of you one after another until you’re begging the game to let you proceed. The levels are unimaginative and feel super limited compared to the game’s predecessor. The player character feels weak and the cut scenes make him look really dull. I can’t imagine why anyone felt the need to turn the fun, quick action shooter into a modern shooter type of game. It’s playable but that’s about all that can be said about it. By the end the missions get a tiny bit more interesting and you’ve gotten somewhat used to the controls so it doesn’t feel like pulling your teeth out anymore. That’s something, eh? So to summarize: if you enjoyed the previous games you’ll hate this one.
