Red Faction’s big feature was that you could destroy the walls in the game. It’s a damn shame they almost forgot to use that feature at all. You’ll get few spots here and there where you can blow stuff up and it’s mostly cosmetic. The game looks way worse than Unreal which was released three years earlier. It is also a lot emptier and the enemies are more boring. It’s weird that unlike in Crysis shooting the aliens in Unreal feels a lot more satisfying than shooting the soldiers in Red Faction. There’s just no feel to it at all. At first I was a bit intrigued by the levels since there were some interesting little bases on the red planet but then it just turns literally into running through corridors and shooting everything. The story might’ve been interesting if not for the horrible writing. Over all the game is just boring with no real identity.
